The girl group from JYP entertainment released their brand new EP ‘TUNNEL VISION’ on November 10th. The release is their first Korean release in over 5 months. The new, more darker sound is something that ITZY hasn’t experimented with before, and boy did they own it.
The EP starts out with the intro track ‘Focus.’ This dark, grungy intro track introduces the album in such a unique way. With soft, ethereal singing, you truly have no idea what’s about to hit you in the rest of the release. The title track, ‘TUNNEL VISION‘ brings similar vibes to the album. While it is a bit more mechanical and sing-songy, the group performs this track excellently. The group’s backing vocals in the chorus creates a vibe like no other, with the bridge’s dance break hitting perfectly to outro the song. The next song, ‘Flicker,’ brings in a newer style for ITZY as well. With songs like ‘jellyous’ by ILLIT and ‘Beautiful Strangers’ by Tomorrow X Together, ITZY has followed in style with the same light, electronic and fairy-like style.

The album takes a dark, yet bubbly twist with ‘Nocturne.’ This similarly ethereal song is a deep breath of fresh air in comparison to the rest of the album. The soft, sweet singing brings a different sound to the EP that is much appreciated. This is definitely an underrated B-side from the group. The final song of the release is ‘8-BIT HEART‘ which is a completely different vibe switch from the rest of the album. The 8-bit video game-esque song brings a fun twist to the album. This sweet, bubbly song quickly turns into this dark, noise-heavy track that is such an unexpected sound from ITZY, but it truly is like no other.
